About this policy

Al-Quds Community Centre (AQCC, “we”, “us”) is a non-profit community organisation. This policy explains how we collect, use, share and look after personal information connected with this website, registrations for our events and activities, donations, emails to us, and photos and video taken at our events.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), to the extent they apply to us, and as a guide to good practice.

What we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • Registration details: when you register for one of our events or activities, for example to take part, run a stall or volunteer, your name, contact details and your answers to the form’s questions.
  • Donation details: when you donate, your payment details are processed by a third-party payment service. We can see your name, email address, donation amount, and limited payment details such as the card type and last four digits. We do not have access to your full card number.
  • Messages: your name, email address and anything you include when you email us.
  • Photos and video: images of people who attend our events.
  • Technical information: when you visit this website, our hosting provider may record technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in its server logs.

We don’t ask for sensitive information, such as health details or religious beliefs. Photos taken at a cultural event may show things like a person’s cultural or religious background, so anyone can ask us to remove an image of themselves (see Photos and video below). Please don’t include sensitive information in a form or email unless it’s needed.

How we collect it

We collect most personal information directly from you: through our registration forms, when you donate, when you email us, and at our events. Sometimes someone else gives us your details, for example a group leader registering a group, or a parent or guardian registering a child. If you give us someone else’s details, please make sure they know and are happy for you to do so.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or social media pixels, and does not store information in your browser. Our forms, donation services and directions may open on third-party websites, which may use their own cookies or similar technologies in accordance with their own privacy policies.

How we use it

We use personal information to:

  • organise and run our events and activities, and contact you about your registration;
  • process donations and send receipts;
  • answer your questions and requests;
  • share and promote our events and activities, including with photos and video;
  • keep records and meet our legal obligations;
  • keep this website working and secure.

We won’t use your personal information for an unrelated purpose without your consent, unless the law allows it. If we send you news about future events or activities, each message will include a simple way to unsubscribe.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed for the purposes described above, with:

  • AQCC organisers and volunteers who need it to run our events and activities;
  • service providers that help us operate our website, forms, donation services, email and other systems; and
  • others where the law requires or allows us to do so.

We do not sell personal information.

Information stored overseas

Some of our service providers may store or process personal information outside Australia. Where this occurs, the information may be handled in accordance with the relevant provider’s privacy policy and applicable privacy laws.

For more information about how third-party service providers handle personal information, please refer to the privacy policies of the services we use.

Photos and video

We may take photos and video at our events, including people taking part, and use them on this website, on social media and to promote future events. If you’d prefer not to be photographed, please let an organiser know on the day.

If a parent or guardian would like an image of their child removed, or you see yourself in a photo or video on this website and would like it taken down, email us and we’ll take reasonable steps to remove it.

To ask for a photo or video to be removed: Email admin@aqcc.org.au.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, change or disclosure. No way of sending or storing information online is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee the security of information you send us.

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires, and then take reasonable steps to delete it or remove identifying details.

Access and correction

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. We may need to confirm who you are first. If we can’t give you access or make a correction, we’ll tell you why, unless the law says we can’t.

To ask for access or a correction: Email admin@aqcc.org.au.

Questions and complaints

If you have a question or a concern about how we’ve handled your personal information, please email us with the details. We’ll look into it and reply to you.

Privacy questions and complaints: Email admin@aqcc.org.au.
