Accessibilityإمكانية الوصول

We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people with disability. Here’s what we’ve done, what we know isn’t perfect yet, and how to tell us about a problem.

Our aim

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard the Australian Human Rights Commission recommends. The website hasn’t been independently audited, and we can’t promise that every part of it meets every guideline.

What we’ve done

  • Pages use clear headings and structure, so they can be navigated with a screen reader.
  • Images that carry information have text descriptions.
  • The website can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
  • Text and colour combinations are checked for contrast.
  • Arabic text is marked up as Arabic, so screen readers can read it correctly.
  • Our videos have no sound, so they don’t need captions.
  • The homepage slideshow has a pause button, and stays still if you’ve asked your device for reduced motion.
  • Pages work on phones, tablets and computers, and when text is enlarged.
  • We check the website with automated accessibility tools and by hand.

Known limitations

  • Registration forms and donations are processed through third-party services. These services operate on their own websites and may have different accessibility features from ours. If you have difficulty accessing or completing a form, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you access the service another way.
  • Some images, such as event posters, contain text. Their key details are also written out as text on the page.

Tell us about a problem

If something on this website doesn’t work for you, please tell us which page and what went wrong. We’ll try to fix it, or give you the information in another way.
